Have you ever had dogs or animals that refused to get along? Do you ever notice that certain breeds don't get along? I've noticed that none of my cats ever got along with my neighbor's pug or my friend's Pomeranian. I think their general hyper temperaments weren't compatible with my cats' general laid back personalities. Because they didn't mind if a huge Wolfhound came and just laid down next to them and napped for a couple hours. (I lived in a small town at this point, so people's pets were pretty free to roam around. The Wolfhound belonged to a neighbor down the block who liked our patio because it was warm. After the first couple times, his owner would just call to check if he was there. Pretty laid back country towns, so all the pets in my stories were safe, except from the cats.) So any dog breeds that don't get along or pets?
My dogs and cats don't get along at all. Strangely, this is mostly because of my oldest cat. She's quite aggressive towards the dogs. They have attempted to be friends with her only to be met with hissing and spitting and violent whacks on the nose. She has a deep mistrust of dogs and even living around them all her life hasn't seemed to have changed that.
I noticed that my medium-sized dog doesn't get along with one of my friends' big dog, I don't know if it's because of the breed or because they got off on the wrong foot, but they're always growling when they see each other.
It's surprising because outside of that they're really loving, they even get along with rats and chickens.
We have 3 dogs presently - Tisoy the spitz, Pipoy the pug, Barbie the pekingese. Tisoy is 8 years old and the other 2 are 4. So Tisoy was 4 when the 2 puppies arrived. We were careful with the puppies because we were warned that the older dog may harm the puppies out of jealousy. Fortunately, it was the opposite because Tisoy immediately showed concern for the puppies in the cage. He would smell the cage and even growl when someone would come near the cage.
When the puppies were 4 months old, it was time to let them loose in the house to be in the company of Tisoy. Barbie, the only female, was playfully attacking Tisoy at first but Tisoy did not mind. On the second day, they were okay. But it was different with Pipoy who is mischievous. He would playfully attack Tisoy, endlessly until Tisoy would bark at him. Seeing the problem, we put Pipoy back in the cage. For several days, we tried to let Pipoy out but the same scenario happens - Pipoy is an alpha male who wants to dominate the older Tisoy. So Pipoy remains in the cage until today.
My two female dogs do not get along if I am around them. If I were to watch them in the backyard, they will get along fine, but the second they see me come into the picture, it's a fight. I have come to the conclusion that it's a jealousy issue. I am pretty sure that they are fighting for attention if anything.
My way of dealing with fighting dogs is to just take their behavior into account. I will do my best to give them attention when I have them alone and not pay any special attention to one or the other when they are both present.
My pets for some reason have always cooperated with each other. I have cats and dogs and they seem to like each other to an extent other than when it is feeding time. All the dogs in my neighborhood are mutual and do not seem to get angry at each other for no reason. My cats on the other hand don't get along with anybody or thing outside the house. It really is a bother.
