I bought my dog as a puppy from a close friend but I am having an urge to try and get a rescue dog. How have your experience been with these?
I don't have any experience but it would be wonderful to rescue a dog. I'd advise on asking about details of its past, if available.
Did you end up getting a rescue?
Sometimes the rescue centers don't know much about the life of the dog. They can guess at the age and look to see if a female has had pups. Blood work is done and vaccines given.
One thing my daughter found out with her rescue is that she was marked as having heartworm, but when she took her to the vet, there were no signs of heartworm.
