I honestly have no idea about the whole raw diet thing but considering that it's very natural, I would give it a try myself. It definitely makes sense considering they are hunters in the wild. And a lot of the dry and can food has some nasty stuff in it. Stuff that's probably a lot less healthy than raw meat to begin with. I would think that you'd be feeding into their instincts though, and satisfying that need that they feel as a result. That's just a theory though, but considering you said he gets aggressive there may be some truth to it.

I have never heard about the raw meat diet and that it is good for purebreds. I am not sure if I would do that or not. My dogs get dry dog food and maybe a couple of scraps from the table but not much. I do not want them to think that they are going to get table food all the time. I guess the raw meat diet would make sense though because they would have to eat it raw if they were wild and hunted for their own food.

I've heard that multiple times from different individuals that raw meat is best for pure breeds. Especially breeds known to be good for hunting. It natural instincts is to chase and hunt. But I never give my dog table scraps. Pure breeds shouldn't eating that at all.

I'm not familiar with the raw meat diet and no longer buy purebreds. What I do have experience with is cooking a vegetarian diet for my lab mix. I adapted recipes from Dr. Pitcairn's Natural Health for Dogs & Cats. I know cats have to have meat, but there is some research indicating dogs can do well enough without it. My concern about the meat ranged from high mercury content in the fish to bioavailability of antibiotics and hormones given to farm raised cattle, as well as the pink slime in ground beef. Don't get me started on my babies throwing up from their commercial dry food being contaminated with liquid plastic from China.

I would never consider feeding my dog raw meat. He is a tamed dog that lives with us inside the home and he is in the city. My thought about having raw meat is that he will one day wanted to tear into the meat, just as the way you said your dog did, and this can only mean trouble for me, and him being put down. This is just how I view the whole situation and projecting what might happen. Other than this, I have no idea how healthy or not healthy raw meat can be.

Feeding your dog raw meat will not turn him furl. You took it too far. Your dog will not have to be put down or anything like that. Raw meat is the natural food for dog as well as their ancestors wolves. So you are way off mark on that. Only man will think that a dog is human and should be fed cooked meat and even rice. Only birds should be eating rice.

I don't know where in the world you live, but here in the US, if a dog bites a human, he/she will be put down. I agree to disagree with you, since that is your opinion and we all have the rights to our own opinion and doing what is best for our situation.

I rather take it far and way off the mark then be sorry later! Dogs are domesticated animals. They still have their natural instincts and I don't want to wake that up unless he/she is in the woods and have to fend for himself/herself.

In my opinion, feeding dogs raw meat every now and then or even some raw bones (not cooked, cooked bones splinter) is good for the teeth. They get to lay down with the bone and chew to strengthen and clean the teeth. Too much raw meat is not only expensive but unnecessary unless you want an animal with a wild side. You have to be prepared to train him properly so he doesn't get out of hand.

My dogs don't like raw meat 😀 They grew up with dry food and maybe some leftovers from us, but never raw meat. I know that in the country-side they do not give dogs raw meat or eggs because they will start to hunt down the chickens and other small animals around the house, or will steal the eggs.

Feeding a dog small amounts of raw meat is actually good for the dog since raw meat elements in it that cooked food never will have. If done often enough it aids in their digestion. Giving a dog raw meat a few times will not make it bite you. Only an improperly trained dog would do that.
