I've never had trouble washing any of my dogs. But this video shows that not just cats abhor water. Have you ever had a dog that hated taking a bath. How did you counter that and did they out grow it or did they always hate having a bath?
That dog at 1:00 looks like he has gone to hell and back. 😀
My dogs don't like bathing and are scared of it, I'm not sure they'll grow out of it, I honestly think it's not going to happen, we just have to deal with it, if that is the case.
Our oldest dog who is 8 years old is just playing coy when bathing day comes, i.e. Saturdays. He would be hiding under the table and would be grouchy but I know that's just an act. When in the bathing area, all our dogs are behaving pretty well. A breeder friend said that when you bathe a dog regularly, it gets used to it especially if you try to discipline it. And with the water, never splash water on your dog. Be gentle all the time so the dog will not be jolted by the cold water.
I use tap water to bathe our dogs during summer when the weather is really hot. But on cooler days, I use warm water so they would not feel cold. And after bathing, I immediately dry them with a towel and then the cleaning starts - ears, eyes, nails, etc.
Since we as humans have our dislikes, its upon up to respect our dogs in the same way since they have reasons as to why they don't like bathing. In my opinion, there are substitutes to bathing, thats the 'dry cleaning' option. Instead of using water, you can deeply massage into its coat using methylated spirit which evaporates on the skin surface leaving a cool clean surface. This would get she of skin parasites and guard against infections and should preferably be food on hotter days.

George will shun you for a whole day if you bath him. He is so full of scorn. As soon as he gets taken into the bathroom you know he will not love you for next 24 hours at least. How dare we keep him clean?!
My dog definitely hated to have a bath. But I guess he just got used to it. With the few orders and maybe treats you'd make him stay resignedly and wait till the bathing is done. But I guess it depends, you may try your best to get your dog used to it but can't be sure if you succeed.
Oh my gosh... That is absolutely hilarious to watch. I have never personally had any issues with my dogs taking baths. Some of them were not terribly fond of it, but didn't cause me any real problems when I tried to bathe them. My Service Dog, Bear, loves to take baths or showers. He'll get in the shower with me when I shower and sit contently with the water running on him until I'm ready to do his washing. Then he will give you the "Oh this feels good" look the whole time you wash him. He's one amazing dog in so many ways. 😀
My dog dislikes baths - doesn't hate them, just accepts his fate. He looks at me and waits for it to be over the whole time, generally really tense but nothing crazy 🙂
I have been bathing my dogs since they were pups so they have grown accustomed to it. Of course the aren't happy about bathing but they show little to no resistance. I assume they understand that the faster they get it done is the faster they can go on with their lives.
I had two Labradors. I had a white lab and a chocolate lab. When they were puppies I bathed them in the tub. At first they were scared but after coaxing them with treats they i made their way to the tub. I made sure to give them a really relaxing bath by giving them a good massage when I put doggy soap and shampoo on them. They soon loved baths. However, soon the became too big to fit into the tub. Then I had to use a light pressured hose. Luckily, they both still loved it.
I rarely bathe my dog. She takes Revolution, so she does not have a problem with fleas. She never scratches, she doesn't appear dirty, she doesn't smell. I have heard that it is not really good for their skin, to bathe them a lot. I used to bathe her more often at my mother's request, since I would take her there to visit. But she doesn't ever go there anymore, so we've cut way back on the baths.
life is good...
My wife or I bathe our dog once a month unless it is extremely cold, in which case we will wait until the weather becomes a bit more temperate before bathing him. The important thing to consider is to make sure that you get a high quality dog shampoo and/or conditioner to prevent drying out their skin.
My two dogs just can't stand taking baths. And it always has been like that, since they were little puppies they would get all nervous during the whole process, and even sometimes they start shaking just by seeing that we are getting everything ready to bath them, lol.
But luckily, they are not aggressive at all, but they shake the whole time and they stay really, really still, which sometimes can be hard for us to get them fully clean.
The worst thing is that after the bath, they are immediately rolling on the floor of my background, so, they don't really stay clean for a really long time.
