Hi, I'm Thomas Pendrake. I'm pretty much retired, but I try to do a little blogging. I'm a long time dog friend, having had a number of canine companions. I used to say I was a dog "owner" but I now understand that those were just friends who I helped take care of. My las companion was a sweet black and tan standard dachshund. I was "given" her by a friend who became too ill to care for her. She was about 9 months old at the time.
One day I was playing with her (she was attacking my hand) and she bit me too hard and I said "ouch". She looked at me for a moment with shock on her face for a moment. She then made the fakest looking snarl and kissed me. She never again bit me too hard. The thought came to me "the lights are on and somebody's home".
I think back to all the other canine companions I have had and realize that they were all dog people. I realize that not all people have that understanding of dogs.
