This is welcome news. I wouldn't have imagined that many of the foodstuff mentioned above would be poisonous to dogs. I am wondering if there is the possibility that the dogs may be able to sense that these items are a danger to them.

There are also quite a few plants that can be harmful to your furbabies! Try to avoid the following house/garden plants if you have a four legged toddler:
[LIST=1]

  • Mushrooms
  • Marijuana (I know the likelihood of this is low, but just in case!)
  • Particular lilies (he peace lily, calla lily, amaryllis, lily of the valley, autumn crocus and the common houseplant, giant Dracaena and Palm lily)
  • Black Walnut
  • Sago Palm
  • Azaleas
  • Daffodils
  • Dieffenbachias
  • Aloe Vera (It's great for humans, but deadly to cats and dogs!)
  • Oleander
  • Actually more than 700 plants have been identified as potentially poisonous for pets! If you are concerned about some of your household plants that might have a ill effect on your pup, visit this site:

    Great list guys. There is a lot of to know before accepting the responsibility that comes along with having a fur baby.
    If you have children, it important to educate them about these poisonous substances. A child could be being nice to the dog by giving them chocolate for example.
    I had a scare once when my Samoyed decided it was a good idea to blue toilet water, we took him to the vet in time luckily.

    I don't take our dog to a place where he can pick things without my knowledge. I know that pets ain't human beings and they might not now what they are doing, it can be just for fun and if mistakenly will bring to their death.

    I make sure that my environment are very clean and I kep everything that isn't food out of their reach. I don't give the dog chocolate even when he ask for it.
