Taking care of animals is the same way you can take care of yourself. We had a dog back then and it was by mother that make sure that everything he needs are provided. Sometimes, she will complain that her money has finished 😂. Pets need adequate maintenance for them to live long and in healthy condition.
Our dog then was not quite expensive. We spend about $50 in a month or lesser. We get his medications, foods and toys for him so that he will be happy. Our dog ain't a much foodie, sometimes the food last for a month and some weeks.
Honestly, I've never sat down to calculate how much I am spending on my dog's food on monthly basis because I don't see it as something that is necessary for me to put myself through that stress.
I know that I can be able to afford whatever they have to eat and I'm not worried about the cost or expenses.
Honestly, when I think about it, the biggest costs are veterinary bills... but those don't happen that often, thankfully. Vets are outrageous. Food adds up, but it does so too for people.
Essentially, if you take food, extra nutrition, stuff for bathing, and general upkeep, I would say it would still be less than a couple of hundred bucks a month. You could save on a lot of things by waiting for discounts or sales or giveaways.
Hence, I agree with this comment. Calculated, care for my dog is only around $200-$250 a month. And that's me buying toys, taking him to events, and whatnot.
That's a lot but I wouldn't bother about the cost as long as the dog is happy and in good health. This is one of the things that I do with most of the pets that I have because I want them to stay in good health.
