My friend's siamese cat died from Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). I wonder how do cats have it? Does their cat food play a big role on contracting a disease like this one? It's alarming if it would, because we trust the food we buy that they're safe for our furry family members. Is this common for cats to have UTIs?
Back in 2019, my cat ended up with a UTI, she became very unwell with it and was struggling to use her litter tray so we got her in to the vet to be checked. Prior to her getting the UTI we did bring in a cat we thought was a stray due to how they were acting and we feel that made her stressed and caused the UTI as she wasn't going to use her litter tray as much as she should have been after the cat had been in the house.
The vet did tell us that if cats eat a lot of dry food you do need to ensure that they do get plenty of water as that can cause UTIs as well but stress can also be a main factor in UTIs so I would look for any kind of stress that the cat may be under if there is any.
That's impressive and educative. I don't know that pets can contract UTI. I thought it's from a dirt or having contact with another pet can cause it. I will check more on that to have a broader knowledge.
