I definitely agree, most insurance companies don’t cover pre existing conditions so having pet insurance is a great idea to get when your dog is just puppy. Also if you’re in a similar situation like me and don’t have the extra savings to put aside every month, pet insurance is almost heaven sent. I don’t know how likely it would be that I could pay a $3,000 vet bill all of a sudden tomorrow if something happened to our pup and I’d hate to be the one deciding whether or not he could get the treatment he needed just because of financial issues. Even if I didn’t have to use his insurance that month, I could at least have some peace of mind knowing that he’s covered. But after having some experiences at the vet, I can suggest some materials that can be useful for those who want to insure their pets. Just talk to your doggy health care provider for what’s best for your area. They kind of give you a general idea about some companies out there and how insurance companies work. I’ll add them below

Also if you have multiple pets, I believe Healthy Paws and Embrace, both offer discounts for signing up your pets all at once and Healthy Paws offers five additional discounts for AAA, AARP, Military, Microchipping and being an animal welfare. You can probably find some review and coupon sites that offer promo codes and that could be added savings but I’m not sure if you can combine a coupon code with other discounts. We went with Pet Plan though because a substantial amount of their earnings go to dog rescues and animal shelters!

In my country, Singapore, pet insurance isn't really a thing and veterinarians aren't very common. So far my dog hasn't had any major incidents so I don't actually have pet insurance for my dog. Do you think this is a bad idea?

I strongly recommend pet insurance for a healthy puppy or dog. There are many good pet insurance companies out there especially in the US and the UK. If you are from another country and cannot find any, I recommend that you put money away in a savings account each month in the case of emergencies.
Do your research first before signing up with an insurance company.

I am just thinking of getting this for a dog I rescued, but currently it wont even calm down to come with me anywhere, I guess its just sacred. I looked up a few programs online, but most of them do not cover any kind of surgery.

I do not know about other countries but in my country a surgery by a vet can easily set you back by at least 1k$. So my question is, are all policies such that they do not cover any surgery? Should I opt for one of these or look further to find the one which covers surgeries?

In my country it is very rare to have pets with insurance since as far as I know it is not really common in our place to have animals as recipient for an insurance. But if there will be some kind of program that is available in my location then I will probably take an insurance plan for my dogs since we cannot predict what might gonna happen in the future.

I don't know about pet insurance over here in my state. There might be something like that but to me, I don't have the idea. It will be a great idea if every pet have insurance but going through the process is what will stress me.
