When we had our dog, we always used to be sure to take him to the vet as and when we felt he needed to see the vet but I know many other people tend to take their dogs for routine checkups once every so many months.

Has your dog ever eaten anything while on a walk that made it sick? My daughter's dog had an anaphylactic reaction to something and had to rush her dog to an ER vet. They couldn't figure out what it was, so it's been scary ever since that it could happen again.

I'm not sure if I would free with giving my dog an injection myself. Even if it's under the instructions of my vet, I'm not sure if I would still be able to do it. Injection is very painful for me and it's why I can't do. I might do it wrong out of fear.

Are there dog first aid classes you can take in your area?

I've seen some advertised before, but it's been a while. I think bigger cities offer them more than the rural areas. It's good to know what to do in case of an emergency.

Has your dog ever had anaphylaxis, where he/she couldn't breathe? It most likely happens due to an allergy.

My daughter was walking her dog in the city when the dog keeled over and struggled to breathe. She was fortunate to have a good samaritan help her take the dog to a vet and that saved her life. The vet couldn't see any bites or stings, so they didn't know what happened, but her gums were blue which was a clear sign of an allergic reaction to something. We keep Benadryl on hand for her in case it ever happens again.

Red Rings around Eyes After a Walk

Not me, my dog. He's a white jack-staffie and pulls a lot on his lead. When he gets back from a walk he has red rings around his eyes, well, more pinkish. Is this normal?

My pug and mongrel labrador are in heat. They are both sensitive this days. Dey the pug don't eat much and is picky with her food and it bothers me. On the other hand Charm, my other dog don't what to be touch on her thigh part. She growls even try to bite. Once a week I bathe them to lessen the heat and clean some spots of blood stains. Opinions on what else I can do regarding their situation? Here they are :

I live in the Philippines and most of the pet owners here disregard their dog and thinks it'sokay to lock them up in a cage forever, I however don't think that should be the case. I am seeing a lot of worrying signs with regards to my dog such as anxiety and they always bark especially when they're lonely. I try my best to walk them and play with them, but I don't have that much time. How do I comfort them, to the extent they'll see that I love them.

Hi guys, i noticed that my dog scratches her ear often. I checked them and found some dirt. Although the dirt i saw is not that bad, but i'm still worried thinking that it can be an issue in the future. I tried several times cleaning only the external part but my dog just don't like it. I just use clean clothes to wipe it but shes not comfortable at all. I'm wondering is there a way or a technique on how i can clean my dog's ear?
